People are such a-holes๐ For context, I work at a doggy daycare/boarding facility where Im the only groomer. Sometimes people who will be boarding their dogs will schedule for their pup to be groomed the day theyre leaving so that theyre nice and clean going home. I personally like this because I can groom the dog on my own time and dont have to worry about owners being late or no showing. So today, I had a client who was scheduled at 2pm, lets call the dog Razor. Now, this was a scheduling mistake I noticed and addressed early last week. My 1pm was a 4 hour old english sheep dog but the person who scheduled him didnt block out the allotted time I needed so when Razor was scheduled, they put him down for the next "available" time. At some point last week, one of my managers called Razors dad and explained to him the scheduling mistake and said we could reschedule him for the day after his current appointment. Razors dad says "I need him groomed that day. Im usually pretty flexible but I have family coming over so I cant reschedule." First red flag. Well this guy is a sort of "vip" at my job because he's been a client forever so we do what we can to please the guy. Also, it was our fuck up so whatever, Ill figure it out. The only solution I could conjure up was this - my first appointment of the day was just a bath and nails so I was going to have a coworker bathe that dog and Id do the nails. This dog ended up no showing anyways so it didnt matter. I end up doing Razor today first thing in the morning. He's a very sweet dog and is easy to work on. I have him done around 10:30am and I call his dad. I ask him how he is and let him know that I found time to groom his dog and that Razor is all set whenever he's available for pickup. This man says to me "Why was he done so early? His appointment was at 2. Im in atlantic city. Razor is now going to be isolated for 4 hours until I get there." I mention to him again the scheduling issue that was already explained to him and say we can put Razor back in pack with the other dogs to play if he'd like to which he responds "That defeats the whole purpose. Im very upset right now, this is ridiculous. Have (my bosses name) call me. Im very upset." Me, being the non confrontational person I am, just said "ok, have a good day." I, now on the verge of tears, then explain to my boss, who was sitting right next to me this whole time, what happened and what Razors dad said. My boss goes "You bent over backwards to get his dog done today and he's still being a dick?" I just shrugged and walked back to the grooming room where I could be upset in peace lmao. I was working on the 4 hour dog when Razor was picked up so I didnt see his dad nor did I ask if he said anything else upon arriving. Ive definitely grown thicker skin over the years when it comes to dealing with clients but I think the stress of multiple scheduling errors recently that I end up having to fix just got the best of me today. This guy is also usually a pretty good tipper but didnt tip today, as if the scheduling error was my fault. Its pretty lame when you do a client a favor and somehow still get the shit end of the stick.
