Aggressive dog groom: how to ask a groomer and not be one of THOSE owners
Post Body

Good morning guys! Let my preface this by saying you guys rule and make my job (I'm a LVT) a hell of a lot easier.

I have a very fear reactive, stranger danger 58lb Labrador. He's double coated and has a slightly wire textured overcoat. He has very short flags on all four legs, but the fur around his hips also grows more fluff than overcoat. I've previously done all of his grooming myself and he will let me bath him,, trim his nails, clean eyes/ears, and shave/trim things as needed. He's very used to being handled, but only by me. Even at his vet appointments, I draw blood and everything by myself. He does warm up to people after 2-3 15-30minute meetings food. He's extremely food motatived, but often wear a basket muzzle when going out and about for safety reasons and to alert other people that he's not safe to pet.

Due to some schedule changes, I'm not going to have the same free time I dedicated to his grooming needs. How could I even possibly approach a groomer, explain the situation, and not be one of those crazy owners we all hate? I'm absolutely okay with medicating him for grooming visits if that was requested and I have an arsenal of anxiety medication for him. But I'm also a little scared that he will become kennel reactive or something else that would black list him.
