Okay, so as you may have seen, a few Android projects have been popping up for wallets. Here is my take on it: http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/1th79o/alpha_please_test_out_this_android_wallet
Now I saw several people working on the same stuff, but no coordination happens. Therefore I'm posting here in hopes that we can work TOGETHER to quickly bring a nicely working app for Android (Sorry iOS and WP, I have no experience with them).
We could of course develop something from scratch. But this takes a lot of time, and is prone to the usual bugs. Therefore I'd like to propose a few basic things:
a) We fork bitcoinj for our port of the protocol. Not litecoinj as it is several versions and commits behind upstream.
b) We fork the Bitcoin wallet app by Andreas Schildbach. It is well established and has all the needed functions. This will give us the possibility to get this app out real quick.
As you can see in my post above I already have most of the stuff working based on the Litecoin wallet and litecoinj by hank. But as I said, this is many versions behind Bitcoin. I want this to be mostly bug free and ready for distribution on the Play Store and also F-Droid.
So, I'm in the process of forking bitcoinj and the wallet and port all the needed changes over. If anyone wants to join the efforts, I'd be glad to add you as contributors on the repo.
So what do you guys think? Do you want to join me, or should we all work on out own? Not really, eh?
(Yes, I also saw the completely newly designed wallet app, but for you, dogecoinj library will be very useful :) If we have two wallets, even better.)
