About devs and coin value - What we can and can't do
Post Body

Hey shibes and those who are interested,

You know, I haven't been very vocal about my thoughts in public recently. Mainly because I'd repeat myself over and over.

Let me say one thing: Devs are not the people who drive value in a coin. If you are constantly crying for change in the coin's very grounds, just because you saw altcoin23710 implementing a "super innovate" feature and is now rising in the value, then please feel free to invest in it. Because all you're saying is that you're in for the short term gains. Dogecoin is now six months old and has a damn huge community supporting it. Now go and look at those "super innovative" coins in six months. Oh right, 99% of the altcoins released every week are dead by then.

They did not rise in value because of some new algo or some new feature. They were rising because people beleived the marketing behind it.

What do you want us devs to do? Change the algo to whatever coins is rising currently? For what? A quick pump due to the news? At what price though? The dump afterwards? Come on, this is not how it's gonna work. I think Dogecoin has shown pretty much that it can do better than this.

So what can devs do? They can focus on long term stability of the coin. We are developers. We build the technology behind the coin. We are not responsible to pump up its value artificially. Please don't approach us with "You NEED to implement this and that because it's so awesome". Maybe it is, yes, but is it a long term solution? Mostly not. We're are certainly happy for every idea that actually helps us in the long term. And let me say that we are always looking for them. Please don't think that we do nothing just because we don't give a daily status report.

At the end a coin is as much worth as the people think it is worth. Value is what people are willing to pay for it, not what algo or feature devs implement. If you want to rant about value, direct your rant against everybody. Yes, that means you too. People are directed by fear these days and some think it's okay to blame the devs for that. No it's not. Now that you know that, go and build the Dogeconony for the coin you love and we get back to build a stable platform for it. Thanks :)
