In Silence in the Library, River recognized the Doctor immediately, but couldn't tell from which regeneration he was in how early in his life it was. In the Mr. Saxon arc it was mentioned/shown that the Doctor would be able to recognize any Time Lord at a glance.
Were the writers always planning for River to be a bit Time Lord? And if she has that, and some degree of regeneration (assuming the girl is also her), how much else does she have? Is she effectively a real Time Lord, artificially altered?
EDIT: I know she isn't pure human, I was avoiding putting spoilers in the title. Read the post before you reply please.
