River could regenerate right? I know Tenth didn't know she could, but Eleventh did. And he gave her the Sonic Screwdriver with the memory voice chat thingy. Which made it possible for her to be uploaded into the core of the Library. Where's she is stuck... for enternity.
Note: I just did a re-run of all Doctor Who episodes and recently finished Tenth, so I might have forgotten something about Eleventh's episodes.
