So, one of our players leveled-up IRL last Sunday, and her only wish was to play D&D the day before. I have had some "campaigns" lying around on my PC, small four map, 10-12 page prewritten adventures. They're all meant for groups of 4, but we ran it as a trio, I DM'd.
Last week, we only got about ¾ of the way done before it was 1am for our CST player, so we said that we would wrap up tonight. I sat there as a DM knowing that the next map, a dungeon, could either go very fast, or slow. Of course, it goes about medium pace, and it's almost 12:30am for our CST player going into the boss room.
The Druid DMPC, Cleric, Fighter, and Monk all go in fairly healthy to fight the Blood Moon Druid BBEG and his Blood Hawk/Dual Wolves to end it. The nameless evil Druid gets off an Entangle on the DMPC, Fighter, and Cleric, who is the only one to fail their saving throw. The Cleric says "This is why I saved my spell slots" as vines are slowly restraining them. Casting Silence upon the evil, fanatic Druid, one of his wolves, and the blood hawk, the Cleric has essentially stopped his plans in their tracks. He can no longer go through with his ritual, or command his animals. Game over.
Sometimes the best endings are the ones that you least expect.
