Earth had fallen, a powerful corporation had taken a liking to a parasitic xeno species, it had gotten loose and within 4 years it had overtaken the planet, leaders of 5 nations had taken a multitude of people with them to the stars on a mass exodus, Switzerland was all that remained.

To the Galactic north, you had "Corporation" I don't remember precisely what he called himself but he was as corporate empire, to the far east you had the the Republic of Sapientkind, the southern segments the Fifth Reich and Nova Russia, the south western part you had the Nordheim confederacy.

Numerous alien empires(about 2 dozen NPC Empires with 3 xeno player empires).

The Fifth Reich met Muscovy Tsardom exploration fleets during one of their routes and a peace accord was created, within a few months the "Imperium of man" federation was formed, this alarmed a lot of alien species who formed their own federations, but before the federation was formed and long before first contact occurred, the Jiralhanae had met the Muscovy Tsardom and attacked, seeking to claim this world from a weaker species, the battle took several months(a few turns), the Jiralhane were repulsed, with a Muscovy Tsardom fleet invading a Jiralhane world, this world was taken as Jiralhane diplomats sought an end to the bloodshed due to internal issues.

"This world is mine" the Tsardom leader stated, they agreed and left, only to finalize their internal strife, while a Reich diplomat was on their way to the Nordheim the Jiralhane began a slaughter, realizing the Nordheim humans were not affiliated with the other two.

Reich diplomats arrived during the midst of the invasion, and as they fled were destroyed by Jiralhane captured anti ship systems, this was done AFTER the Imperium of Man was founded, and with a vote, the Imperial war machine was mobilized, fleet and armies from the Reich and Tsardom were sent out, with the Nova Russians claiming other worlds and the Reich setting down on Nordheim's homeworld to reclaim it.

After a year of fighting the Jiralhane were defeated and enslaved, news of their defeat reached other species, as the Reich and Tsardom deliberated on what to do, the Reich's reporters found many accounts of barbarism committed by the Jiralhane, shown that they had taken advantage of many humans, eaten them, torn them apart like animals, the Reich proposed extermination of their entire species.

The Tsardom wanted to cordon them off in their own section of the planet and have them worked to death, a vote was taken and extermination was approved after recordings taken from Human captives showed what this species did.

In the galactic east, a Reich/Tsardom combined fleet showed up to request Sapientkind join the Imperium, they swatted out hand away claiming we were genocidal monsters, this, bear in mind they did this after they proceeded to enslave nearby alien species themselves.

In the north, the Krogan/Ogryn wars raged as the two were highly aggressive and militaristic species, the Krogan lost and faced a civil war as one of the Krogan were approached by an Eldar(both players), she offered to give him the power he needed over the Krogan clans to dominate what he needed, the Krogan accepted and after a bloody civil war he was pushed into a fight with the overlord, had it not been for the Farseer manipulating the overlord, he would have slain the rebel Krogan.

The Reich started drilling operations in one of its colonies and found something, an underground tomb, this tomb was full of mechanical monstrosities that came to life and butchered the team, the Farseer materialized with a strike team on the world.

But it was for nought, the tomb woke up, killed everyone on the planet, and proceeded to enact awakening protocols(game ended, Necrons woke up, everyone lost)
