Why does Wizards of the Coast have basically great swords listed under glaives in monster stats?

Post Body

I was looking at the black guard stat block and I saw they wield glaives yet in the picture and miniature they are depicted with greatswords. Ziraj The Hunter's stat block has his melee weapon listed under glaive but it doesn't have the reach property yet It is basically a great sword.

So why not give them both a longsword or greatsword instead of giving them a weapon that isn't actually a pole arm and complicating things?
