My group of 5 players are rolling new 7th level characters after a TPK.
I was originally thinking of playing Hexblade 1 / Bard X and focusing on either melee or ranged dependant on the other players' picks, but the party has ended up with the below comp and I'm not sure if this is still the way to go:
- Twilight Cleric 7 (ranged focus)
- Tempest Cleric 7 (melee focus)
- Circle of Stars Druid 7
- Way of Astral Self Monk 7
The comp is pretty caster heavy, with coverage of utility spells that I was planning to take (Faerie Fire, Detect Magic, Dispel Magic, Counterspell, Leomund's Tiny Hut). We won't be dealing high melee damage, and have only middling sustained range damage.
Is Hexblade 1 / Swords Bard X with Warcaster, GWM and eventually Elven Accuracy a good pick here? What other suggestions would you make for a 5th party member? I wanted to play a gish character but open to any suggestion.
Free feat at 1st level, point buy.
Edit: the other players are newer to D&D and are not optimising their builds at all (the monk has Magic Initiate (Sorcerer) for example). I am trying to pick a build that covers some of the gaps.
