I have an idea for something, a accessory for D&D that I’m working on. Initially it was just a passion project I was doing for myself and my campaign, but I realized I may eventually want to try and do something with the project. In the event that I wanted to attempt to sell my work, I want to make sure I can legally and respectfully do so. I love D&D and WotC and would never want to infringe on their IP, so I just want to make sure I understand what I can and cannot do when using their source material.
For instance, I know you can’t use the specific name of certain spells, like using Black Tentacles rather than using Evard’s Black Tentacles. So does the current OGL cover everything I’m allowed to use, or is there a more specific, more extensive document somewhere that relates to merchandise and sale of product that uses pieces of 5th edition?
I hope this would be the proper place to ask this, I’m sure some of you fine folks have made your own D&D materials or at the very least researched it a bit and might be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks!
