I am building a yuan-ti alchemist for an upcoming campaign that my coworker is starting. So I decided to refresh myself on the abilities of the artificer. I love everything I was seeing but then I came across it again. The one ability in the artificer i dont understand arcane armament. I thought this class was supposed to be a spell caster, hell they even gave them cantrips. So why in the 9 hells, does this class get extra attack with stipulations. You have to use a magic item or it doesn't work. Not only that but it splits focus, do you want to be more of a smart fighter guy or a weak noodle armed spell caster. Its frustrating so I thought there has to be an ability that has already been done that makes more since. Then it hit me magical secrets. Artificers are meant to be people who study magic and learn to artificially recreate it so why not give them this ability instead. It also fits into the idea of them be more of this utility all around Jack of all trade. So please tell me why is this not their ability please?
