Chemistry vs Alchemy : What’s your view?

Hello everyone.
So a bit of a world building question, but what ideas do you all have for the position of a magical world with both Alchemy and Chemistry. Do you have them as different subjects with varying amounts of overlap, or perhaps the ideas of both are entirely covered in one area, treating them as the same entity? I’m not sure if any past DnD material has put forth an idea on this, but I would love to hear what everyone has to say!
