The Refractor - Heavy Crossbow 2
The Refractor is a heavy crossbow gilt in silver and gold with the string appearing to be made of finely crafted silver chain. There are 2 glowing gems set into the stock, there is a channel running from the gem sockets down the length of the crossbow. Each gem must be valued at 50gp minimum and a gem holds 10 charges, all charges must be expended before reload or the gem loses all charges upon removal. Reloading gems takes a full action.
The Refractor has four modes of fire as listed below;
Infused Shot (½ charge) - Upon firing, a normal bolt is infused with the power of each gem inserted in the stock. The Refractor deals an additional d4 damage of the corresponding element as listed below.
Energy Bolt (1 charge) - Upon activating this ability, The Refractor shoots twin bolts of energy that deal 1d10 elemental and 1d4 force damage. Energy Bolt cannot crit.
Radiant Beam (5 charges) - Upon activating, The Refractor fires a beam of fused energy dealing 4d12 combined elemental damage and 4d4 force damage. This ability needs a long rest to recharge. Radiant Beam cannot crit.
Final Spark (10 charges) - Upon activating, The Refractor fires a massive Ray of fused energy, dealing 8d12 combined elemental damage and 8d4 force damage. This ability can only be used once every 24hrs. Final Spark cannot crit.
Combined elemental damage deal both elements of damage. Any resistances negates ¼ of the damage or ½ if opponent is resistant to both elements.
