Can echo attack while I'm grappling?

I am consdering taking the Grappler feat as a Echo Knight fighter. Online the discussion of whether the echo itself can grapple is mixed so I'm not pursuing it with that in mind.
The plan is the character would grappled a creature, and then the echo makes attacks against them two handed. Is this possible, and does anyone else know good ways to use the echo knight?
