Are there ways to prevent or mitigate Ability Score damage?

Are there any 1st Party (i.e., WotC published) items or spells that a character can use to prevent ability damage, e.g. Strength drain from shadows?

My character recently nearly died to shadows due to strength drain, and being s STR-fighter, they're probably going to be come extremely paranoid about that happening again. Is there anything RAW they can use to prevent it?

EDIT:

I am aware of the various ways to get rid of the strength drain, and that it goes away with just a short rest. I am looking specifically for any way to prevent the drain.
