Seriously. I even see disparaging remarks about third party content that more often than not create more and better choices than some official content, if you really don't like encouraging your players creativity and letting them play what they want that much why are you DM'ing? The game is made to be fun and any potential issues with these optional choices are easily fixed by the DM. And this is coming from a DM that is heavy on balance but allows any homebrew content after review and adjustment, it's not really that much work.

Fair point though but again like I said a lot of DMs don't want to balance these changes. While I'm willing to work with a player and change mechanics and work on balance it can be overwhelming for new DMs or others with less time so as stated yeah I get how it can be an issue it's just it can all be fixed by the DM lol.
Again it's on the DM to balance that and state explicitly to the player that by choosing these supplemental options that they'll be subject to change for the purpose of not giving their character more agency than the rest of the party just because they throw encounters off balance. It's not the best choice to leave these kinds of choices completely imbalanced or not outright stating they're subject to changes because sometimes you need to see them at play.
