Looking to try dnd out

I have been interested in dnd since I discovered it but have never had the opportunity to play I have watched bits of campaigns on YouTube and participated in larps (I am aware it’s not the same but it’s just a general idea of my expierence) many of my friends have established groups and I’ve always felt very intimated by it I really want to get into this hobby but I’m genuinely a little scared but if there is anyone who would be willing to help a guy learn how to play I am totally down
