Working on a Fuzz War v1 and really struggling.

Making a PedalPCB Bellum Fuzz mk1, which is the 7 transistor DBA FUZZ WAR.

Built it to spec, and it sounded like shit. Have been replacing all the 680n caps with 120n, and it's been better, but I feel like it doesn't actually have that much gain, and it's acting like a ring mod, like the tentacle, when you play higher on the neck, and it's fairly gated when you turn up the drive knob.

I didn't measure my 5088 transistors and I read on the PedalPCB forum that matched transistors worked better. Could that be my issue? I need to order a new multimeter. The one I have won't measure that stuff. I guess it's just for simpler things
