Transistor fuzz is producing distorted output with no power - what gives?
Post Body

Like everyone else on the planet since 2002, I'm playing around with the Bazz Fuss schematic. I've noticed that if I turn off the power to my circuit, or even straight-up remove the battery leads from the breadboard, I can still get a clearly fuzzy (very distorted) output. It has a good amount of "sag" like you get from a dying battery, and it's not high-output, but I can easily get it to a decent recording volume on a tiny Fender battery-powered amp without turning the volume higher than 2-3. It doesn't seem to be residual charge in the capacitors, because I can do it seemingly endlessly.

I still need to apply AC current from my guitar (or my goto test unit, the otherwise-mostly-useless RTG pedal). It's not self-oscillating, but I can play my guitar (passive pickups) through the unpowered circuit and straight into an amp and still get a fuzz-tone guitar signal.

I can't find any mention of this in discussions online, and it's driving me crazy. On one hand, it's kind of fun that the circuit works without power. But on the other hand, it's breaking my brain.
