Big muff For bass. Questions about making Bass guitar specific circuits.
Post Body

Hi! Bass player here and long time technician (20 years) I was reading craigslist a few days ago and ran across a guy selling custom wired pedals. And I said to myself: "Self! you can do that!" so after conferring with a guitar player friend I resigned myself to the knowledge that I have to build two pedals in order to get my feet wet. The first project is a Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz (for my guitar buddy) that's a very simple and straightforward build, I expect no issues. But my Muff is not so simple, and I have many questions about applying the muff properly to a bass guitar.

Everything I am reading says that the input, output and coupling capacitors are small (0.1uf) in order to act as a high pass filter. Everywhere I read says that to get a better bass gain I need to increase the cap size. So how big is enough? How big is too big? is 1uf going to be enough to not high pass my low B0 sting? or should I consider 10uf? Is there a formula that I can apply that will give me a correct reference value for bass? Also does anyone have a schematic of a muff that includes the bass boost circuit in the current bass muff pi?

Edited for spelling.
