Just been planning out a ground level deck build and have limited height, instead of using joist hangers and a single level of 140x45 framing am looking at using 90x90 bearers and 90x45 joists. I’ll use more posts and bearers than minimum and closer joists than minimum. Decking is 140x32mm rad decking. After removing a 50mm of ground I should have about 150mm clearance between the bearers and the ground.
Anything I should be worried about? I realise 90x45 framing isn’t the norm but it’s going to be more convenient to do this way.
