Hello, first time here on this sub.
I have a pair of original AKG K240 Monitors Gold 600ohm with a 1/4 TRS adapter soldered on in a housing that unscrews. My desktop amp has both a 1/4 female output and a 4 pin female xlr output.
My understanding from looking at the cable is that it is a balanced TRS 1/4 cable on these K240 and I have never used anything via XLR. Is removing the 1/4 TRS and replacing it with a male 4 pin XLR worth doing? Would I see any noticeable improvement in these headphones? They're my favorite pair and not easily replaceable so I'd like some advice before I start soldering anything.
I can provide photos or anything that might be helpful, really just looking for some advice as I'm capable with a soldering iron on my own.
