Hey all, thanks for looking. I've searched and come to some understandings but I can't seem to find the right search keywords to fully grasp how to get max sound out of my amp... I am happy with my KDC head unit and it's preout voltage, left myself room to grow with 4ga OFC wiring feeding my JL digital amp(either JX/JD500 (2ohm stable)).
My sub choice was a mistake... 10" SVC 4ohm. My understanding is that I'm only feeding this about 250 watts bridges, right?
So here's what I can't understand:
A.) If I got a 4ohm DVC sub I could parallel down to 2ohm... Would that mean that the voice coils split the 500w (250/ea) or that each coil gets 500w? In the latter scenario I fully understand it's gonna be more powerful, but in the more likely result that I send both coils 250w how much difference does that make compared to the same power sent to my current SVC?
B.) Next, if I added a second 4ohm SVC and wired them essentially like DVC above, how much difference would there be on the exact same watts sent to two subs rather than to two coils of the same sub? Is running two SVC subs vs. one DVC going to give me more of that mirror shaking sensory I enjoy? Pardon my lack of understanding here, wouldn't ultimately be best to get two 4ohm DVCs and wire them from 4>2>1 then series back to 2ohm? At this point is each of the four voice coils getting 125, 250 or 500w?
C.) Why is low ohm stability expensive, other than it getting you more power. To me (who knows extremely little about electricity) lowered ohms/resistance sounds easier for the amp 😂 I'm sure this isn't the case but have never understood why. Google is frustrating to get results that aren't ads/promoted results.
Thank you for anyone who took time to read, I hardly use Reddit so forgive me if post is bothersome in any way ❤️
