After a drop like today (RED ALL OVER STOCKS) it can be easy to panic and start second guessing everything and jump ship. But remember that the best companies that pay dividends will do so regardless of what the market does. LEG, KO, HRL, and many other blue chip companies have been paying dividends for decades regardless of what the stock market has done.
In 2008, the stock market crash dropped the entire market by over half and many people began to frantically pull out their investments, but those that stood strong and instead bought more stocks came out on top over the long run (which is, of course, key in dividend investing).
When the next true recession hits, which will likely happen within the next 3-5 years, keep in mind everything youโre building and always remember that top companies do not wane under even the most intense, short term pressure.
That all being said, what are some companies you all like to own stocks with that have weathered financial storms? I like the three I mentioned previously as well as most utility companies, as everyone with any type of home always has to pay for electricity, water, refuse removal, etc.
