Is there an advantage of auto-reinvesting dividends?

I heard after paying dividends, the share price typically goes down by the amount of the dividends paid. So, If set auto-reinvesting the dividends, can I take advantage of buying the cheaper price? maybe I can't because the share price need time to go down first?
