Spoilers for AITA episode and a great reddit story!

In the episode about r/AITA Bob told us the story the "pasta girl", which in my mind is one of the craziest and infamous AITA stories ever. It's one of my favorites for people to read and react to. But there was one glaring and overlooked issue in that story that seemed rather important to the context the story's girl and (ex)boyfriends relationship, and is rather something big I feel that Bob either neglected or glossed over.

(Seriously, those spoiler tags aren't a joke). In the story it's mentioned that the girl writing the story is 20 years old and the (ex)boyfriend is 26. A little weird but not too crazy. However if you keep reading throughout the story there's one sentence that often catches people's attention. It's where the OP say's they have been dating for three years. THREE YEARS! Now I'm no rocket mortgage or scientist broker but if you do the math... you see why that detail sticks out to people. It's even written in the posters edits and is like the 4th sentence in their edit notes. Bob does clearly read the edit notes on the podcast and states that the boyfriend lied, cheated and hates dogs (the worst thing about him according to the op of the story).

Now I don't know if Bob saw this and didn't bother saying it or if he didn't notice, but it's a big part of the story in my mind. Maybe not as important as the "pasta with essence of tomato" but still a big detail as to their (now former) relationship. I hope Bob see's this and he point's it out on the podcast.

Also congrats Bob and Mandy <3.

Edit: It has been mentioned that the story in question is fake, however I would say something in conjecture to it's credit. Real or fake, it's still a good story for people to react to, and telling this story in the way it's presented is entertaining. Hundreds, if not thousands of stories or based in fiction. Most stories are seen as great pieces of literary genius. Hemingway, Dickens, even Dr. Seuss are revered as wonderful writers and artists. Given that most of their stories are fiction, does that make them less impactful and emotional? Does the medium of art matter so long as it moves people and make them think in different ways? Not to compare this story and OP to some of the greatest writers of all time, but does this story not count as entertainment? Does this story not make us react or think differently?

In the end does it matter? I'm my opinion... No. So long as a story does those things it shouldn't matter. If it's written, painted, acted, or sang, art should move people. Regardless if it is based on reality or not.
