First some background: I have two sides to my family. Twice, one year and then two years later/ago, I went to Disney during the Christmas holiday with the father's side of the family, the Italian/Irish side, which I call "The Drinking Side." And with good reason. They got so drunk the first night of the second aforementioned trip that they ruined a chocolate holiday display in the hotel. Yeah.
But now I'm going with the mom's side, the Filipino "Younger Side." Three of the four families on this side are going, making me the oldest of my generation going (nineteen). We have two young girls, nine and eleven/twelve, and three boys between their age and mine, including my brother.
Now, we have some "traditional" itinerary set up - Mama Melrose Christmas Eve, Park in Grand Floridian the next morning, and at least one Ohana dinner. (There's no true Disney trip without a dinner at Ohana.) And my family's arriving on a Sunday during peak, which means Magic Kingdom until 3AM, a tradition only my brother and I can truly pull off.
Anyway, I really want to make the best of this trip - my family has moved away from twice-a-year trips and into these more rare trips. We've done Very Merry Christmas Party and Candlelight Procession, as well as most other Christmas things.
I'm looking for more off-the-beaten-path sorts of things to do. We're on a bit of a shoestring budget, but we certainly have room to do some things. I want to take the girls to at least one Princess meal (and not the one in the Castle, that one has horrid food and always had).
Any ideas? Meals, shows, spots to check out?
And is DisneyQuest still around?
