She let him stay at her house since he was an orphan now and took care of him. She made meals for him and motivated him. Anna herself was in grief too after her husband passed away only a year ago and left behind an infant at her breast. She knew what it meant to him. But both were lonely and couldn't help seeking an emotional connection from each other too.
