In Earth-188, Spider-Man doesn't exist. Or at least he did just hours ago. Spider-Man, AKA Peter Parker of Earth-188 had mysteriously vanished while fighting the Sinister Six comprised of Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, The Lizard, Vulture, Mysterio and Electro as well as Venom whom was busy hunting down the Spider. The Sinister Six was busy trying to experiment on a reactor of sorts, their exact goals unknown, but whatever it was, would not end well for the innocent people of NYC, or maybe even the world. Everything was going well for Peter, having defeated a few of the Six already until a girl named Charlie Johnson had somehow made it into the reactor room after getting lost during her high school tour at the facility. Distracted by having to save the girl from danger, Spider-Man had by ambushed by Venom, whom wasn't even part of the Sinister Six's plan. The machine had successfully activated, but before they could fully utilize it, the Symbiote knocked Spider-Man and the girl into the reactor, but also falling in themselves. Struggling to escape, Venom had broken the machine and caused it to explode, Spider-Man disappearing into the machine while the girl was ejected from it in a shockwave, along with the Symbiote being shredded to bits. The girl was fine, but the shockwave spread across the entire city and beyond.
Everyone who ever known about Spider-Man in Earth-188 had forgotten that he had ever existed at all, except for one girl, Charlie. Little did everyone know, the Symbiote had spread all over the city and was infecting many people and even villains. This did not stop at just the city however, but across the multiverse. Spider people from different dimensions would soon be teleported to Earth-188, even followed by their own villains, some even Venomized by the Symbiote.
Charlie had now gained spider powers as well as the ability to make portals. She aimed to replace Earh-188's Spider-Man and with the help of these visiting Spider people, maybe they could defeat the new Venomized enemies and return them back to their own dimensions. The world may not remember who Spider-Man was, but she hoped to help remind the world that not all help was lost and Spider-Man would not be forgotten.
