Hey everyone, long story short, I fell victim to the false report scam. I'm guessing they got an old buddy of mine, cause it was his account who initiated contact with me about it. I feel so stupid in retrospect, but beating myself up about it any longer isn't going to do anything, and not why I'm here.

I contacted Discord support and the support I have received has been... less than stellar. Pretty much zero communication, getting them to respond to anything has been like pulling teeth. Worse than that, it doesn't seem like any action was taken to protect my information or lock down the account, as I was charged for Nitro weeks after my initial contact over my account being compromised. The latest development is that now, after a month the scammer has given my old account a makeover to continue their scam. And all the while it's been crickets from Discord support and vague promises of "we're escalating this," and "please don't open more tickets."
Side note, when the issue of payment came up they finally seemed to do something and swore to me they removed payment methods from the account... but now with the scam-over I'm left questioning if there's any sort of protection for potentially compromised accounts until things are resolved, if I've just been in contact with incredibly incompetent support team members, or what. And I am sorry, I don't mean to be rude or snippy, but my patience has worn completely out by this point.

So I come to you, people of reddit. Has anyone had this happen to them and if so, have you actually been helped and managed to recover your account? Or should I just write this whole damn thing and every server I made with that account (I ran some ttrpgs [table top roleplay games] for friends) as a loss? I'm already upset with the idea that this scammer is going to be using my account to potentially hurt and scam others, even more so for my friends it's putting in danger, but I don't think I can take much more of the emotional exhaustion of waiting around for something that might just never happen.
