i received a message from someone who wanted pictures of some of my older and pricier CDs. i send them to his email, and he replies back asking if i could give him a discount and do the transaction off discogs. i said no and blocked him from buying or messaging me.
a couple months go by and i get a big (10 CDs) order from a different account through discogs that included a few of the discs i took a picture of. i didn't think much of it and sent everything out to some miami address with a code after the buyer's name (forwarding?) and waited for his feedback. after doing a little digging i found out he's the same person since the email and name matched. i was annoyed but decided to wait until the transaction was complete.
i got a message from him today saying one of the albums was a different version than i stated due to an IFPI code in the matrix of the disc. i'm pretty meticulous about listing my stuff, so this was kind of annoying albeit understandable if i wasn't looking close enough since those codes are sometimes small.
either way, i apologized and offered to refund him the cost of the CD after he sends me a picture of the disc to confirm its not the same version, but i'm wondering if this was the correct course of action. i'm assuming it would be easy to find a different version and a take a picture of another disc or just decline my offer and submit a claim on paypal. both of his accounts have perfect feedback which sort of eased my mind.
regardless of how the transaction unfolds, should i report him to discogs for the first email and eventually getting around the block i set up? i don't know if anything would happen in that case.
