I had a cathartic finish to a B tier tournament. I've been playing disc golf for about 4 years at this point and I just had my first finish in the top 3. This was one of my goals for the year. I was participating in a tournament held on a technical wooded course in an MA3 division. I managed to shoot two consistent rounds that had me finish 3 strokes behind 1st place. Whats more, these two rounds were my first 900 rated rounds.
Last year I played many tournaments and leagues but was stuck mostly in the middle of my division. My rating stated the year at 807 and finished at 817 (my current rating). I still struggle to drive consistently beyond 300', but slow progress is being made.
This post is part brag and part acknowledgement that grinding practice in the field and putting in the back yard can make a difference. I still feel like there is so much more to my game that needs to be improved and refined. Still q bit of envy for those people that can crush 350-400' drives in the first year of picking up discs. 🤯 Regardless, I am thankful to this sport as it is one of the few things that helps me forget all the challenges and stress life holds.
For everyone, keep your love of the game in your mind and heart. It has helped me struggle through, and it will keep me pushing forward. Hopefully I will get to the point where I am competitive with the MA2 players and beyond.
Best of luck all!
