Wiping stamps

Anyone have luck totally wiping stamps off cosmic neutron (and soft)? I used nail polish remover and really just wiped the color leaving behind the whole stamp just silver. Despite how much I scrubbed. I know acetone is the move, but before I buy some I wanted to see if it'd get any better?
