What time to take meds?

Does anyone know if it matters what time you take your daily meds? I don't mean morning versus night. I mean, 1 am versus 8 am. I haven't been sleeping well so, I'm awake at the ass-crack of dawn on the regular. I'll remember I need to take my meds when I first wake up at 1 am but, will have forgotten to take them by the time it's 8 am. Does it matter?
