Worried about my friend
Post Body

I’m not sure if this is allowed or if there’s a more appropriate sub, please let me know if I goobered.

NSFW tag because of possible homelessness.

Also posted in another community.

A friend of mine’s partner was her caregiver for over a decade, and he decided he doesn’t want to do it anymore and ended their relationship as well. He wants her out.

He gave her time to get things in order but it’s looking like she will be homeless, which she straight up will not survive. She has disability pay but nothing else (which we all know isn’t enough to rent), and all possible avenues from nonprofits and the government have been exhausted. I’m unclear on her state rules for Section 8 but he wants her out ling before it’d get approved. No car. No family. No other possible source of income.

I don’t really know what to do and all my research/contacts for her have been dead ends. Has anyone else heard of or seen a similar situation that had a solution?

Update: this is in McHenry County, Illinois.

I can’t name every resources used as I don’t remember them all, but state Medicaid, 211, find help.org, her state rep, her PCP, local nonprofits, local shelters (2 to our knowledge, PADS and Home of the Sparrow), local churches, were all reached out to with no answers for immediate housing. Does not qualify for Job Corps. One nonprofit did put her in touch with a disability lawyer and after discussion the only possible option seemed to be pursuing palimony but of course that’s not immediate either.
