Apparently benefits are different for blind people than people with other disabilities, and I'm allowed to earn a significant more amount than someone else who isn't blind on disability would before they cut me off....well I've approached that limit I think, and I anticipate losing my benefits soon. I need to know whether to ask my boss for less hours or more hours at this point because going off of disability would put me in a very risky spot. I haven't even had a job in 22 years until this one, and every employer I've tried to get a job through over the years pretty much hangs up the phone on me anytime I ask about applications and whatnot when I tell them I am disabled and will need accommodations, so I am DAMN LUCKY I got this job, especially since it pays so well. I'm not in great physical condition due to other health issues too and I anticipate that I won't be able to work this job for years and years before my body gives completely out on me (it's pretty physically intense work, even for someone in better health). Eventually I will have to go back on disability, but I've been on it since I was a child. Has anyone had a similar experience? How easy was it to get back on? Did you have to basically re-apply and wait years for it, or are you basically in the system and just have a hold placed on your account until it gets taken off again or what? I realize I should probably talk to a social security representative, but I've done that a few times over the years and they each tell me something different every time, so I don't know who to believe or what to go off of. I'm in the U.S., figure I'd throw that in before people start wondering WTF I am talking about lol.
