Okay so this is kind of a lot to explain. And I hope I have the right subreddit for this, although I may post elsewhere, too. Try to keep an open mind as you read this.
But basically, I have a lot of medical and mental health problems, so I can't work. At the very least, not a traditional job, and yes, I tried. I was able to do sporadic (once a month or less) writing/editing jobs, but this left me mostly without an income. My state also chose not to expand Medicaid, so basically my body was falling apart, but I could not access health insurance. I tried getting something on the Health Insurance Marketplace, but their cheapest, most bare bones plan was still way more than I could ever hope to afford.
Fast forward over a decade, and I met this sweet health insurance marketplace broker who specializes in getting health insurance for the toughest cases. She included my sporadic writing/editing work in the application, knew exactly what to put where, crunched some numbers, and got me some health insurance. With the added COVID discounts, it was free. This did not happen until maybe October of 2021 or so.
Well, today, I got a letter from the Health Insurance Marketplace stating that I have to complete and submit Form 1095-A. I don't mind doing that, but I'm a little nervous now. I may be overthinking this, but is this going to mess up my disability application? Also, my roommate claimed me as a dependent on her taxes for obvious reasons, and I don't want that to cause a problem, either.
Is all of this simply a matter of doing my taxes and submitting the 1095-A along with them, or do I need to be concerned about something bad happening?
Thanks. Go easy on me, please!
