I'm so over social security!
My mother is >70. She "retired" >30 years ago. So she's been receiving benefits for her lazy booty. Her income outside of SSI & SSA has remained zero. The only things that change are address and phone number. That's it.
Today I received a letter (I now deal with her mail as it'll become obvious on the why) from social security saying as of October 1st her SSI is being stopped.
Why? Because they don't have a phone number for her. She says she called, left messages attempted to fix this mess but never received a return call.
Now I'm dealing with it and worst case I'm dragging her down to the local office on Tuesday.
What if she couldn't afford a phone (she can't the number is my cell) what if she couldn't navigate the system (clearly she couldn't because here we are). How many others end up homeless because of a frigging phone number??????
