Holtor monitor Struggles
Post Body

I wasn't sure where else to post this, so I hope this is allowed. So as the title indicates, my doctor wants me to wear a Holtor monitor. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but the brand is MediComp, and I will be wearing it for one month.

I've been having some issues with it, though, and I'm not sure that it's brand specific.

  • The top connection/lead (near my collar bone) comes unstuck constantly, even when I move the placement around slightly to counteract skin irritation from the adhesive. I make sure to apply it to clean, dry skin and avoid lotions, perfumes, or anything that would leave a film, but that doesn't help. The skin there is also intact and free from lesions of any kind. I thought it might be because I sleep on my stomach at night, and that was pulling the lead off my skin. But I slept on my side last night, and it's still an issue. The instructions say to change out every 1 1/2 to 2 days, but I might have to change them daily . . . I guess?
  • The batteries also die really quickly. I don't mind changing them, but the instructions say to change them every few days. I'm pretty much having to change them daily. I'm not sure what this means, if it means anything at all.
  • The device automatically records my symptoms, but I have the option of pushing the "Symptom" button on the pendant or on the included smart phone. I try to do this whenever possible, but I'm not used to pushing a button when I have a symptom, so my timing is off. Some of my symptoms last only a few seconds, and by the time my "out of it" brain thinks to push the button, I feel like the moment has passed. I know it sounds absurd that I can't push one simple button, but I cannot get this right.

I figured it would be more straightforward than this. It's not confusing or overly time-consuming. I just don't seem to be very good at this. Has anyone else had a Holtor monitor that would like to chime in?
