Be wary of any users claiming to do meetups or hookups or whatever with a catch always involved. I'm new to this so I admit to making seriously stupid decisions with the head between my legs and not my shoulders. I'm sharing these 2 stories in the hope that no one else repeats my mistake. If I can stop even one person from getting scammed then my time was well spent. So confession 1. A girl claiming to be 20 from the area around me said she was willing to meetup etc no catch whatsoever. Fast forward to later that evening and she asked me for money to Uber to my location which I obliged, price point of the Uber lined up with the area that she was traveling between. I wind up waiting about 30 mins and she messages me saying that she was stopping at the store. Cool. I wait another 30 mins. She messages me that the Uber is getting pulled over and snaps me a photo of it(probably faked). Then said that the cops demanded $200 or they would both be taken under suspicion of owning the drugs. So she tells me that her sister is picking her up and that her sister paid the 200 so that way she wouldn't be put in jail. She tells me her sister Will drop her off at my location if I pay for half of the fine that she covered which I did via Apple gift card. After I sent that she ceased all communication. That user was u/activity-working.
The other scam I encountered was a women asking for gas money and asked me to buy 2 $20 PayPal cards so she could get enough gas to meet. I sent her the first code. She said it was good. Sent her the code to the second card. She claims that the card was already redeemed even though I know that I never redeemed it nor let anyone see it as I bought both the cards in the same transaction and sent them both at the same time with no other eye seeing them. This was a clear scam as they tried to gaslight you into thinking that you bought something that was invalid when in case it was and then they never showed anyways. Don't entertain any form of helping/donating to money to anyone on the platform they are all scams.
TLDR; got scammed by what seemed like a believable honest people by being to stupid to see that they were taking advantage of my kindness. Be better than me.
