So, I'm part of a very longstanding nerdy friend group that's been together for a long time, since we were all in early high school. We're in our late 20s now but we still get together and hang out pretty much every week.
There are a bunch of guys in the group and three girls: S, A & C.
A & C live together with another girl, K, and they all have very intertwined families. So while the rest of us all do Christmas Day with our own families individually, A, C & K do it combined or semi-combined.
This year, my family was out of town due to a medical emergency in the family. I couldn't go and was stuck here alone. A & C got word of this and suggested I join their big thing for Christmas Day.
I am an incredibly shy and nerdy guy, by far the shyest in the friend group, so I almost didn't want to take them up on the offer.
But OH MY GOD I'm glad that I did, because there, I got the most unbelievable Christmas gift for my life.
