This place is so green, and wet. Which, for a klutz like me, is just bad mix waiting to happen. In between taking classes at the local community college, I work the small coffee stand in the parking lot between the gas station and the only grocery store Ace Hardware combo in town. I've spent six hours today topping enormous frappes for the local highschoolers, fresh on Winter break, and suffered a steam burn making lattes for the droves of Seattle-ites who have made the drive down to hike the Olympic National Park and beachcomb on the reservation a few miles up the road. I'm spending the last few minutes of my shift, quickly typing this message, in a vain attempt to find someone interesting to talk to.

I just moved here a few summers ago and haven't made many friends. Its just me, my dad and the dog. We dont talk much, other than fishing and baseball, neither of which I'm any good at. I prefer long drives in my old truck, buying more books than ill ever read, and watching the waves crash on the beach, frothy and gray underneath steady clouds of rain.

This place is famous for that book about sparkly vampires, and every summer the twi-hards descend in droves, and I spend that week bunked up in my room with the dog, mainlining Chinese take out and watching 90s rom-coms with my dog. She prefers 13 Going on 30, but I maintain Erin Brockovich has a better plot.

I get the draw of Twilight, I too would like to be whisked off my feet, and to have the literal undying attention of some creature finer than myself, to raise my pulse and have hot, rough sex with in the forest/car/beach/wherever. But, life isn't a 4 part movie saga. And I'm just a girl, living in a place that is perpetually green, slinging caffeine.
