While perusing a few of the subs that I follow, I came across a post about trauma. It caused me to reflect on my own history and the coping mechanisms I have evolved. I assume we all develop similar mechanisms to keep ourselves sane?
One very successful tactic (for me) has been to recreate those situations with autonomy and intent. I am very Dominant and have a host of kinks that I can tie back to previous experiences. I picture those initial experiences as the first layer of frosting on the cake that is my life. Subsequent layers smooth out and alter/enhance my initial experience. Each subsequent experience is a gift of experience and another layer of reality.
I am interested in finding someone to chat with who applies the frosting approach to past experiences/injustices. Coating each experience, trauma or injustice with layer after layer of intentional frosting. Evolving a memory from something less than positive, to something most definitely positive.
