This is an idea that's been bouncing around in my head for a little while, but I'd happily adjust a little if this inspires you and you have ideas/suggestions! Here's a little sample:

Corinne hadn't been in the new house for more than a week when the storm rolled in, bringing torrential rains and thunder that shook the house to the foundations. She had every pot and pan she could find--and even her coffee pot--scattered around the little house to catch the drip, drip, dripping of the leaking roof and ceiling.

Of course, she still had to go to work; the storm wouldn't get her out of her late-night shift at the diner in town. The drive to and from had been terrifying--the darkness and the blinding rain made the winding roads through the towering pines even more nerve-wracking than usual. Of course, she'd wanted to move out to the PNW for the rain and the atmosphere...but this was dangerous! The cliffs were so close to the road, and the ocean views that had seemed so charming were now taunting her with the crash of the waves below. She was clutching the steering wheel with both hands, white-knuckled despite the ache of her muscles, when she saw a dark shape run across the road. She skidded to a halt and barely avoided hitting the creature. There, illuminated in her headlights, was a massive, black dog.

The general idea is that Corinne took in an injured "dog" from the storm after coaxing it into her home and offering to share what she had in her fridge, and the "dog" stayed the night but vanished before she woke up. As it turns out, that "dog" was a werewolf from one of the local packs and was injured from some kind of fight--what specifically caused it is up to you! A rivalry between packs? Perhaps some other dangerous creature is lurking in the darkness of the woods?

I have the vague idea that Corinne has moved into town without knowing that there's more to it than meets the eye, and she's now smack dab in the middle of it. She helped this werewolf, and now whatever caused the injury is either angry at her or thinks she might be the werewolf man's weak point. We don't have to play out that first night if you'd prefer to skip ahead to human forms! We can decide what happened and go from there instead.
