Taverns. They attracted all sorts of people and offered all sorts of things. Drink, ranging from the cheapest swill to the finest wines imported from across the seas. Food too, though it was probably best not to ask too much about where it was coming from. A place out of the sun and sand, or at other times a place by a warm fire.

And of course, the pretty things bringing it all to you!

Every good tavern in Suraliyah had its staff, some less willing than others. They might wear no more than rags, or else they may be decked out in beads, bells, jewels, and silks that reveal more than they hide. There are those, often the most punished, who are sent out in nothing save their skin and their collar. The unluckiest walk with the clank of chains around their ankles, or else have their bare skin scribed with magical runes that prevent escape. Others are accustomed to their servitude, and bring platters of drinks with a ready smile and an eager willingness to sit on the lap of any patron in the hopes of a few coins to help pay down their hopeless debts. The prettiest ones in the fanciest establishments might be found dancing or singing at the center of the room as eager hands grasp at them. In the rowdiest they might simply be flung across a table, half drenched in wine as they are used by whoever saw fit to grab them. Some may even be as drunk as their customers, plied with alcohol by amused patrons or else strange drugs and spells to enforce control or sensuality by their owners.

And when the night ends there are those who work on, privately entertaining or warming the beds of lonely travelers willing to pay a little extra. A favored few, marked during the day by the iron belts sealing away their lustful sexes from prying fingers, are instead called to entertain the master of the house and the most favored guests.

In some halls a passing traveler might find dozens of indentured servants and outright property hard at work - Men, women, and everything in between of every kind of race and origin. Failed adventurers, prisoners of war, the sold off children of impoverished merchants, and a hundred other lost hopes and failed stories that might be whispered across a pillow. In others, there might be just the one poor soul, darting from table to table, or else huddling in their place beneath the bar counter for a meal of their own.

One thing is true across all of these - A tavern in Suraliyah is only as good as its slaves.

Aaand breathe! You made it! As the prompt implies, this is all about a fantasy tavern, where all good stories start… only, we won’t be a part of them! I’m looking for a partner to take up a GM-like role in running this fine establishment and its patrons - Though if you like, we can keep most of the focus on one main character(such as the owner).

As for myself? I would be one of the staff working on the common room floor! I might be a reluctant former adventurer trapped by a debt, or a different sort of slave, but in the end I will be bound to serve and had best do it well. Please include your kinks and limits and your favorite fantasy race to show that you’ve read this far. I’ve set this up as an Arabian Nights-esque city, but I’m open to other kinds of settings and different kinds of themes, backstories, and relationships between my character and the establishment that owns them. Respondents interested in worldbuilding with ideas of their own to expand on the prompt are greatly preferred!

I’m open to a mix of lightheartedness and darker themes, and to varying degrees of story and smut depending on what we come up with. Want to turn this into a grand intrigue to take over the city? I’m there all the way! Rather keep things contained within four walls? Well, I won’t be wandering far! While I would like to begin things on Reddit PMs, I’m happy to move over to discord for those who prefer that. Reddit chats are a nope for me.

As a final note, when I say A4A, I do mean A4A - I am open to playing as or with any gender, so shoot over your thoughts, whether they are the grandest tavern in all of Suraliyah or the meanest bar in town!
