If you’re an educated white liberal in an increasingly progressive USA, it’s hard not to feel white guilt. Some manage to shrug it off, but others are consumed by it.

Everyone has different ways to pay their dues. Some are simply comforted by better representation in culture and media and voting for progressive parties. Others may take a more active role, attending rallies and fighting for the cause.

Like many—maybe even millions—of average, young, conscientious, well-meaning American white couples, we grapple with how reversing racism and the patriarchy takes shape in our relationship. Maybe we’ve already experimented with role reversal; maybe we’ve had some fun with femdom or pegging. As a soft, caring, and maybe even effeminate boyfriend, I have taken every effort (maybe even with your help) to be a non-toxic, passive white male. But in so doing, I’ve lost the masculine power that gives you a thrill.

Meanwhile, it’s hard to escape the influence of interracial. Interracial couples populate advertisements. BBC porn has tens of millions of views on the front pages of websites. And growing numbers of submissive white men have cuck urges they can’t control.

I’d like to use this tone and feeling to explore a moment when this tension reaches a breaking point. Maybe we’re at a college party for a group dedicated to reversing systemic oppression, a group with sexual rituals that are only revealed when we’re well into the night and punch bowl. You might have to engage in some initiation rites that leave me speechless and only able to watch, a night that will change us forever.

Or maybe we both attend a political rally that gets out of hand. Swept up in the feeling of the moment, you side with the rally leader to “pay reparations”—even if that means doing things in public, even if that means the crowd turns against me as a white man.
