Looking over the field I find myself satisfied, gaze shifting with a pleased smirk to Skal. "It seems they'll parley after all." I turn, slinging my axe over my shoulder while my furs are tossed about in the wind, heading back towards our encampment and down from the bluff which overlooks the rolling field between my people and the worn stone castle we encircle.

"They know our might, Erik" The trusted war-chief answers.

"It is because so many came, we ought to remind the tribes of that. Each time a war-chief ignores the call the fighting becomes more likely." The Uluthar, my people, are fierce fighters. There's no doubt in my mind we will win the day each and every time we take the field. But there will always be death.

And so warring is best avoided.

"Take word to Thul, have him meet whatever messenger is sent to us outside their gates and escort them to me. I'll be in my tent." The man nods and breaks down a separate path weaving betwixt tents and laughing men and women gathered around fires, I continue onward.

The heavy cloth structure sits at the center of our camp, rising higher and sitting wider across than any other such tent. I'm the one who united them to common cause and it is prudent to project my authority in every manner I can. That, and I may as well take every opportunity to improve my comfort following a march and an extended time away from home.

Largely we're a nomadic people, this way of life comfortable in its own right, but some of the more unorthodox among us (myself included) have erected halls amidst our homeland, giving as a place to return to.

Arriving at my tent I nod to the guards, sweeping the fabric door aside before proceeding inside and finding there the woman who awaits me.

A setting that's a bit of a meld between Nordic and Mongolian cultures-- should be rather fun to keep as a background and to explore. I'll also note I'm open to expanding this into more of a fantasy world rather than a strictly alternate-history setting. Your usual smattering of Tolkien and/or D&D races, races from our favorite fantasy series, and so on!

Erik is, as you might expect, a storied warrior. 6'5" with long, wavy blonde hair, a similarly blonde and scruffy beard, and deep, pale blue eyes. His figure is muscular, hairy across his broad body, with a bit of a gut due to his deep love for ale. While his body has a few scattered scars he's not overly battle-worn, his skill with his axe the only reason he's survived to the comparatively ripe age of 39 within this way of life.

Now, this brings us to the woman in his tent, the title's namesake. Frankly, I have all manner of rough ideas and would love to hear yours. We could go in any number of directions for this smutty, story-rich role play and the character you choose will surely add its own flavor.

His wife, insisting to join him whenever there is a risk of him heading out onto the battlefield, warming his bed while his children are safely at home with their wet-nurse.

A concubine, one of many brought to the field with Erik. Maybe his favorite, maybe one of the bunch, perhaps the newest or the one who's been there the longest.
