It was a random Wednesday night in a random hotel bar on the outskirts of the city. The outer city limits were quiet, and I really liked it that way, less people, less attention. I cozied up to the hotel bar and grabbed my usual, an old fashioned with one ice cube and dove into my phone. It was still early in the evening, but my work for the day was done and I just wanted to relax. basketball and hockey games filled the TV and I immersed myself in the scores and back and forth franticness that were the games I loved.

Traveling for work had it's perks, first class status on every flight, the best rooms in the hotels I stayed at, and some alone time; away from the city's neon lights and all night noises. The one thing that it kept me from though was a family. It's tough being on the road 40 weeks out of the year, and even tougher to keep a significant other. I get it, but it still sucks nonetheless.

I ordered a second drink and some food, staying in my budget for my per diem, and was making small talk with the bartender when you i felt a tap on my shoulder... "Is this seat taken?"
