NXVR: “The future of VR is here” is the motto. A claim that has been made by VR headset after VR headset, yet none of them had ever actually caught on.

But this time, as you purchase a new phone, the phone provider had a free gift of the new NXVR along with your purchase. You figured why not give it a try?

It seems to come with only a headset and an AC adapter/charger. You’d checked the box and no controllers at all. No instruction manual either. You wondered if that might be an additional purchase and if you’d even be able to use it without any controller. But out of curiosity, figured what the hell, put the helmet on and turned it on.

You went to your bedroom, put on the fan as it’s fairly hot. Then you sat on the bed, and with the helmet on, you push the power button, and suddenly everything went black. The first thing you realize is it doesn’t feel as if you’re in your bedroom with a helmet on. You can’t hear the fan anymore. And you can’t feel anything. It causes a bit of panic, your first thought to pull the headset off, but you realize you can’t control or even feel your actual body. You’re trapped in nothingness, and in your panic, each second feels like an eternity.

After about 10 seconds, you’re in a square room with a checkerboard floor and white tiled walls. You see humongous text appear in front of you. “Welcome to NXVR!”. Suddenly, you look down, and see your own body with the same clothes you were just wearing. It literally feels like you’re yourself again. You touch your fingertips to your other hand, you pinch yourself, and it all feels real.

“Avatar customization” are the next words to pop up. You see… Yourself. No controls or anything, just as if you’re looking into a mirror. “Envision yourself. Exit the room when completed.” are the next words to come up, and a door appears on the wall in a puff of smoke. In a stray thought, you think of yourself with different colored hair, and at the thought alone your hair changes color. You’ll quickly discover the same thing works for your outfit, or any body part. At a mere thought, you could become anything or change yourself in any way.

Once you leave the room, it looks as if you’re in a shopping mall. All sorts of different avatars are walking through. Some human, some animals, many looking like celebrities, some looking alien. Each “store” in the shopping mall has a doorway that portals you to a new room.

As you explore, you discover a “dating” store. Out of mere curiosity, you enter. A disclaimer appears. “Warning: Dating rooms may risk exposing yourself to mature and/or disturbing content. By continuing you accept any and all responsibility for these risks.”

Continuing, you’ll see an option for “Create a session” or “Join someone else’s session”. After choosing one you see another option appear: “Allow partners avatar or view partner as an avatar of your choice” - allowing you to either allow the partner to appear as themselves, or you see them as what you want to see.

One thing that wasn’t mentioned in the disclaimer is NXVR had already scanned your thoughts. It’s already well aware of your interests and kinks. Without having to speak it, it’s AI is working to match you up with a partner appropriate for exactly what you have in mind.

After you make your choices, the session begins… And you'll discover the term "dating" may have been used loosely. As it could be used for dating, but many people use it with much more of a.... Naughty intent. Especially since it had already scanned your brain and knows your deepest and darkest secrets, things may not be as mild of a "date" as you thought it would be.

I wonder what kind of people you’ll be adding to your NXVR “friends list” in this virtual world you’ve just entered…

I hope you enjoyed the introduction to the prompt! Basically it’s written to explore a limitless world of any sorts of fantasies! Since this is VR and not the “real world” you’re free to explore without any limits or risks (aside from mentally coping with what you experience). If choosing your own session, an entire fantasy world is created from your imagination, and the partner who joins your session is a passenger within your fantasy. They still have control of themselves, but the world itself is under your control. Rather if you join someone else's session, you’re joining their fantasy, within their control.
